World Aids Day, 1 December
On Saturday 1 December we will mark World Aids Day with the film ‘We were here’. A deadly new disease hit San Francisco in 1981, threatening to wipe out a whole section of the community, but, in adversity, bringing together that same community in love and compassion.
Come and see this powerful film at St Mary’s on World AIDS Day, Saturday 1st December, at 5pm in the Narthex, refreshments provided, collection for the Cara Trust.
The Cara Trust, named after the Gaelic word for ’friend’, was founded by Fr David Randall in 1988 as a community of friendship of people living with HIV. It seeks to help those people with HIV who might need a little extra help, especially because of poverty, ill-health, isolation or old age, or because of prejudice around sexuality, ethnicity or immigration status.
It offers peer support, advice, information and advocacy, psychological support, and well-being and spiritual support and hosts a fundraising evensong at Westminster Abbey twice a year. www.caralife.com
