The Rev’d Robert Tobin was Instituted and Inducted as Vicar of the parish by The Right Reverend Richard Cheetham Bishop of Kingston at the service on 4 September 2017 which brought the interregnum to an end; and so a new stage in the life of St Mary’s Balham begins.
For Christians Holy Week is the most holy time of the Churches year. We journey with Christ through His passion, His death and His Resurrection.
We have different styles of service each evening Monday to Thursday so that we can walk with Christ on His journey.
Please see the Church calendar(on the right hand side of this page) for details of all our Holy Week services. You are welcome to one or to all of them.
We are delighted to announce that the Bishop of Southwark, in consultation with the joint Patron Keble College, Oxford, has appointed the Rev’d Robert Tobin to the post of Vicar of St Mary and St John the Divine Balham in the Deanery of Tooting, subject to the usual legal formalities.
Robert is Chaplain of Oriel College Oxford. He was previously Chaplain at Harvard University in the USA and served his curacy at Beaconsfield in the Diocese of Oxford.
Robert and his wife Olivia will move to Balham over the summer and will be licensed by the Bishop of Kingston at the beginning of September.
Please see the ‘interregnum’ page for additional information.
