Our Church School

We are proud of our Church school, Trinity St Mary’s, or TSM as it is affectionately known. Nestled behind St Mary’s Church, its main entrance is on Balham Park Road.

The first infant school on this site dates from 1859, and a window was erected in the church to commemorate its centenary in 1959.  In 1992, St Mary’s School and Holy Trinity Infant School were both closed, and the newly formed Trinity St Mary’s opened on the Balham Park Road site.

For over 150 years, people in Balham have worked together to provide quality education for young children in the parish. TSM is a Church of England Voluntary Aided Primary School funded jointly by the London Borough of Wandsworth and the Diocese of Southwark.

The school currently boasts award winning teaching staff, is in the top 5% nationally for maths, is in the top 20% nationally for English, and has been commended for the ‘value added’ achievements of pupils.

Former pupils have gone on to become doctors, MPs, and actors in well-known television series.

Our school, like our church, is a supportive and welcoming family, with both working actively to strengthen the links between the two.

Strict church attendance is not essential to gain admission.  See the full admissions policy here and read more about the school, in its own words, on the TSM website.
